Outside: Insight Sculpture in the Gardens 2012

The adjudicator’s award will be announced at the opening which takes place on Sunday the 8th of July at 3pm, and all are welcome to attend.

Outside: Insight 2012 is the 5th annual arts event presented by Brigit’s Garden and Galway Arts Centre. Brigit’s Garden offers a magnificent setting for the outdoor sculpture exhibition with unique contemporary gardens set in 11 acres of woodland and meadows. Brigit’s Garden is a not-for-profit project in Roscahill, Co. Galway,

This year’s show promises a diverse and exciting range of work from up and coming artists as well as established artists. Beka Peralta’s umbrellas hanging in the woodland take a playful view on the Irish weather and the colourful ceramics of Michelle Maher make a stunning complement to the natural environment. There is also an emphasis on interaction this year, with Victoria Smith and Joan Sugrue inviting the public to engage with their pieces to highlight the nature of the area.

The Journey environmental youth arts group will also take part in this year’s show, exhibiting their innovative designs made from willow. There will be two awards for artists; the first awarded by guest adjudicator Kate Howard and the second selected by visitors to the gardens who will be invited to vote for their favourite piece. The adjudicator’s award will be announced at the opening which takes place on Sunday the 8th of July at 3pm, and all are welcome to attend. The exhibition can be viewed daily from 10am to 5.30pm at Brigit’s Garden until 2nd September.
