Life Lessons from the Great Books

Pat McMahon: Hello from Galway Public Libraries!

For every important moment and stage in your life, there is a Great Book that can offer you invaluable lessons and place your unique experiences in a larger perspective.

Sanja Bentz, a student of German and English at the Saarland University in Germany, is currently giving a series of short talks on the great books in Galway City Library, Augustine Street, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

On this Tuesday evening at 6.00pm Sanja Bentz will discuss Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov. “You are trying to save me, but perhaps I am not lost:” This is an essential idea presented throughout The Brothers Karamazov.

Sanja will also discuss the book Night by Elie Wiesel. Set in Hungary in 1944, Elie Wiesel’s book presents a single individual struggling to survive during one of history’s darkest moments.

We hope you can make it along to the City Library on this Tuesday evening. Admission is free and the event will last for about 35 minutes.

Thanks,
Pat McMahon, County Librarian.
