Summer Music in Galway Festival

Galway Youth Orchestra is a partner in the Summer Music in Galway Festival which will run in Claregalway Castle and St.Nicholas’ Collegiate Church next week.

Galway Youth Orchestra is a non-profit making organisation with its roots dating back to 1982. It consists of five ensembles, the Junior, Intermediate and Senior orchestras alongside the recently formed Jazz Orchestra and Alouette Wind Ensemble. It has developed its own Chamber Music programme over the past two years in association with the Galway Ensemble in Residence. A total of 150 musicians between the ages of 9 and 24.
Members can look forward to several
public performances during the term as well as occasional trips abroad to perform in other countries. G.Y.O. has toured in both France, Czech Republic and Estonia and has hosted concerts in Galway for visiting orchestras and choirs from the USA, England and the Continent and is open to assisting foreign youth ensembles in arranging a visit our shores.
