Culture Night: St John the Apostle School will showcase the Bee Room and its treasures

The pupils, parents and staff of St John the Apostle School in Knocknacarra welcome Culture Night visitors to their interactive Bee Room, created as part of a Per Cent for Art Scheme with sculptor Mark Rode. Celebrating the role of the honeybee in society, in nature and in mythology the project features a commission of outdoor  beehive themed sculptures and an indoor space that resources and displays through interactive media the wonderful research undertaken by the school in learning about bees and creating a beautiful significant artworks in a fruitful, collaborative dialogue between school and artist.

The school will be open to showcase the Bee Room and its treasures from 3.00 to 9.00pm on Culture Night. Mark Rode’s sculptures will be unveiled at the end of September.  Further details from 091573027.
