Culture Night: An exhibition by Gary Robinson on the Arts Corridor of UHG

An exhibition of work by Longford-based artist Gary Robinson will be officially opened by Tom Kenny, on the Arts Corridor, University Hospital Galway for Culture Night on Friday September 21st at 5.00pm. This will be followed by a short artist talk. Gary will speak about his practice and discuss the work on display. The show “My Crooked Field” will continue to run until October 30th. Robinson, who has exhibited widely throughout Ireland and whose work features in many private collections, is known for abstract/field colour work. This new work is the result of observations made on one particular field outside Longford. All things can be unearthed in this ordinary field: life, death, renewal, hope and most of all wonder. Gary states: “In this field I found the wilderness, where the writ of man does not run, and these paintings depict what is there as opposed to what our culture has decided to describe. There is a sense of the untamed, with no straight lines and no obvious direction.”
