A presentation on the data collected from the Census 2011

As part of Social Inclusion Week 2012 Galway City Council’s Social Inclusion Unit wishes to invite you to a workshop. Census 2011: Galway City & Small Areas/Neighborhoods Study. Friday 19th October, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, College Road, Galway The workshop will include a presentation and explanation on the range of data collected from the Census 2011. A significant new part of this data includes for the first time access to data for approximately 18,500 Small Areas across the country. Each of which consists of a small pocket of the population (approximately 80 – 100 households on average) and so provides the most detailed layer of population data ever available for Ireland. The workshop will examine how to access the new maps, comparing data, how it should be read / uses etc and how these can be used by the public, state agencies or voluntary/community groups to develop plans/project or funding proposals. The information will be useful to all as it will cover a range of topics from population growth / housing / education / health / transport / disability. Using the maps it is now possible to ‘drill’ down to estate by estate level.*The workshop event will follow a training format used to deliver the Census 2011 data to Galway City Council Staff. Contact sharon.lawless@galwaycity.ie or 091 – 536498 to confirm your attendance
